Trainer Andre Rozier talks about his hopes for Puerto Rican prospects Edgar Berlenga and Josue Vargas...

Andre Rozier has been a mainstay of New York boxing for close to 30 years. During the last 20 of those two fighters have sold out the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden on a regular basis - two fighters who happen to be from the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

Now Rozier is looking for Edgar Berlenga and Josue Vargas (pictured left) to follow in the footsteps of their legendary predecessors Miguel Cotto and Felix Trinidad.

Rozier discussed Team Havoc's involvement in the camps of the two rising Puerto Rican stars. "With Josue, I assist his dad, Elario Vargas and Robert Garcia alongside his manager Richard Roman. Josue calls it 'The Dream Team' and I understand why," Rozier stated.

"Josue is an unbelievable talent. I consider him an undefeated fighter as his only loss was a controversial DQ in a fight he was dominant throughout. He is very mature in the ring for someone his age and has undeniable ability which I believe will see him become a multi-weight world champion.

"Edgar is trained by Team Havoc which comes in the form of myself, Terrence Simpson and Lenny 'Lovefresh' Wilson at our base in Brooklyn, New York. That base has created many world champions such as Sadam Ali and Richard Commey. Edgar's father Edgar Sr who also manager Edgar Jr also oversees what we do in the gym and he has settled in really well."

Rozier continued, "Edgar is a fantastic young man. He is very humble, he listens and he works hard and we are delighted to be working with him in a training capacity. The whole of Team Havoc believes that Edgar is a future superstar and like Josue, will follow in the footsteps of Miguel Cotto and Felix Trinidad and having 12 first-round knockout victories in 12 fights suggests that this could very well be the case."

Berlenga and Vargas are both promoted by legendary promoter Bob Arum and his Top Rank outfit. Rozier, who originates from the same area in Brooklyn as Mike Tyson in the form of Brownsville, weighed in on the pair's allegiance with Top Rank.

The seven-time world champion trainer said, "Top Rank was the driving force behind Trinidad and Cotto's success and how they became global superstars whilst fighting at Madison Square Garden. That is how you build a fighter to become a household name within not just their own community, but within boxing.

"Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and The Bronx is full of Puerto Rican people and boxing fans alike. New York is the perfect place for Berlenga and Vargas to emerge as the global superstars myself, Team Havoc and Vargas' Dream Team all believe they are going to be.

"I am very excited about the journey with both of these fighters and the pair of them will be multi-weight world champions in my eyes and will become household names in New York, Puerto Rico and eventually all over the world. I feel privileged to be a part of their journey."
