Highlights, frustrations and hopes: full 2017 into 2018 survey
As 2017 drew to a close, Boxing Monthly's loyal band of contributors sought out the views of figures from within the pugilistic sphere on the year just gone and the year just beginning.
'What were the highlights and lowlights of 2017?' we asked. 'What hopes do you harbour for 2018?'
And, while we're at it, 'how might this sport we all love be improved?'
131 responses flooded in from figures at every level of the sport, including from 17 current or former world champions, from numerous national, European and Commonwealth titlists, as well as from prospects, amateurs, journeymen and a wide spread of trainers, promoters, managers and boxing writers.
Oh yes, and from an MC and an artist too!
Links to all the responses are collated below. Taken as a whole, I'm sure you'll agree that these interviews create a fascinating and invaluable snapshot of how the sport of boxing saw itself in 2017, and the direction in which it is heading in 2018.
Parts 1-8 feature responses from boxers themselves, while parts 9-11 focus on trainers, managers, promoters and other 'non-combatants' within the sport, while the 12th and final part surveys the views of BM writers.
